Handbook reader and editor is an Android app for reading, editing and creating books and documents. The content can be easily searched.
This app includes a free copy of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare
From handbook.space
This can be used for reading existing handbook books, and making notes or correcting mistakes on each page.
This is particularly useful for people who are studying a book.
Handbook works offline and once installed it doesn't need an Internet connection and doesn't use any of your data.
Handbook does need an SD card in your device and needs access to that. It doesn't need access to any sensors or other information.
Handbook doesn't collect any data about you.
Student work books can be created using this version of HandbookEditor, or by using the desktop Handbook application and then the new workbook can be added to each student's SD card.
Each student only needs one copy of the HandbookReader app on their Android device. The import option will find the new book and load it.
If a different book is opened the previous book is automatically saved back to the same location on the SD card.
Books from Project Gutenberg are provided free of charge, and you will be able to add more books free of charge from the Handbook website at handbook.space
Other books are still subject to copyright and you should not copy them to other users.
The text of Handbook books uses HTML5 for presentation. Images can be included.

The text is stored in an SQLite database known as a 'bookshelf'. One bookshelf can store many books. Using a database makes the process of searching, editing and updating much more efficient.
It is best to keep books or documents on different topics in a separate 'bookshelf'
Each time you edit a book your edits are saved, but these edits are only written back to the SDcard when you export a book, or change the book you are reading, or restart the app.
Copy any edited books from the SDcard to another safe place, or set up an automatic backup of your files to GDrive or Dropbox or similar.
